ATLANTA, Ga.  – MARTA police are currently investigating a vehicle collision that occurred overnight involving one of their officers in southwest Atlanta.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., an MPD officer was en route to assist a fellow officer at the Garnett Station. With lights and sirens activated, the officer proceeded through the intersection of Lee Street and West Whitehall Street when the collision with another vehicle occurred.

Both the officer and the driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries in the crash and were promptly transported to the hospital. Fortunately, their injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.

Compensation for Accident Victims

Victims of vehicle collisions, such as the officer and the other driver in this incident, are often entitled to various forms of compensation. This can include medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and property damage. Understanding the full scope of these entitlements can be complex, especially when dealing with insurance companies and potential legal hurdles.

Medical expenses can cover everything from emergency room visits and hospital stays to ongoing rehabilitation and therapy. Lost wages compensation is intended to cover the income victims miss out on due to their inability to work while recovering from their injuries.

Pain and suffering compensation aims to address the physical and emotional distress caused by the accident, while property damage compensation covers the cost of repairing or replacing the vehicle involved in the crash.
