Pedestrian Severely Hurt: A pedestrian was severely hurt in a hit-and-run incident in Canton on Monday afternoon, suffering serious injuries after being struck by an alleged distracted driver. This unfortunate event unfolded around 1:51 p.m. on the 1100 block of Reinhardt College Parkway.

Responding officers found an unresponsive 58-year-old man lying in the eastbound lanes. The police provided immediate aid until EMS arrived, and the man was subsequently transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

The swift action of the Canton Police Department led to the rapid identification and arrest of the suspect involved in the crash. The driver, a 23-year-old male, was located at his Canton home and taken into custody. He now faces charges of distracted driving and hit-and-run, both of which resulted in severe injury to the pedestrian.

In cases like these, the victims and their families often face significant emotional and financial burdens. Pedestrians involved in accidents with distracted drivers may be entitled to various forms of compensation.

This can include coverage for medical expenses, loss of wages, pain and suffering, and potentially punitive damages depending on the circumstances. The process of securing such compensation can be complex and requires a thorough understanding of both the legal system and insurance policies.
